How it all works:
US Big Kid shoe sizes are based on a US men’s sizing scale. (Why, who knows?)
This sizing scale is 1.5 times lower than the US women's sizes. So if you are a size 5 in women’s, you would be a kid’s 3.5. And a big kid’s size 3.5 is the same as a men’s size 3.5.
And why are they more afforable? The shoes are smaller, so some saving there. And in places like the UK, you don’t pay VAT on kids’ shoes and clothes – the tax means you add an extra 20% to the cost of adult clothing.
